Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has assured the nation that the Black Stars are fully prepared for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Speaking in an interview with 3Sports, he expressed confidence in the team’s mental and physical readiness, emphasizing that they have regrouped strongly after missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). According to Adams, the players are highly motivated and in excellent shape to take on their opponents. He encouraged Ghanaians to support the team, stressing that their backing is crucial for morale. “I want to call on Ghanaians to support the team. I know we’re going to win both games,” he stated. The Black Stars have started their first training camp of the year in Accra, with preparations in full swing at the Accra Sports Stadium. This training is expected to refine their tactics and team chemistry ahead of the decisive matches.

Ghana’s World Cup qualifying campaign resumes with a home game against Chad on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by an away fixture against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, in Morocco. These matches are critical, as the Black Stars currently share the top position in Group I with Comoros, both having secured nine points. Winning these games would give Ghana a strong advantage in the qualification race, increasing their chances of returning to the World Cup stage. The team’s coaching staff, led by Otto Addo, has been focused on strategic improvements, ensuring that both experienced and younger players are fully prepared for the challenges ahead. While the squad has undergone some changes, including last-minute additions like Lawrence Agyekum replacing the injured Elisha Owusu, the technical team remains confident in their selection. The expectation is that Ghana will capitalize on their home advantage against Chad before facing Madagascar in a neutral venue.

Beyond qualification, these games are a crucial opportunity for the Black Stars to rebuild trust with fans, especially after the disappointment of missing the AFCON tournament. The team aims to prove that they are still a formidable force in African football. Adams’ call for national support highlights the importance of unity in pushing the Black Stars toward success. As the countdown to matchday continues, expectations are high, with Ghanaians eager to see an improved and determined squad on the pitch. The players understand the significance of these matches, not just for World Cup qualification but also for restoring their reputation. With a well-balanced squad, strong preparation, and home support, the Black Stars are in a prime position to secure vital wins and move closer to their goal of playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
