Ghana’s Offensive Masterclass Sees Off Chad in Dominant 5-0 Victory

Ghana put on a scintillating attacking display as they ruthlessly dismantled Chad 5-0 in their FIFA World Cup qualifying clash at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday evening. Head coach Otto Addo’s decision to deploy an aggressive, attacking lineup paid off handsomely, with the Black Stars asserting their dominance from the first whistle to the last.

The emphatic victory saw Ghana secure three vital points, pushing them to the top of Group I as they strengthened their bid for World Cup qualification. With a blend of experience and youthful exuberance, the team delivered a performance that delighted the home fans, who witnessed a goal-fest on Ghanaian soil.

Early Dominance Sets the Tone

The Black Stars wasted no time in stamping their authority on the game. Just two minutes into the contest, Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring, capitalizing on a rebound after his initial effort was parried away by Chad’s goalkeeper Jourdain Mbaynassem. The early goal set the tone for the evening, giving Ghana complete control and forcing Chad onto the back foot.

As the match progressed, Ghana continued to press forward with relentless attacking play. Their efforts were rewarded again in the 31st minute when Kingsley Schindler delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, allowing Inaki Williams to rise above his marker and power home a well-placed header. The Athletic Bilbao forward’s clinical finish doubled Ghana’s lead and further showcased their aerial prowess.

The Black Stars’ dominance was further highlighted just five minutes later when Semenyo, who had been a constant threat, made a surging run into the penalty area. Chad defender Issa Lony Hassaballah brought him down, leaving the referee with no choice but to award a penalty. Captain Jordan Ayew stepped up confidently and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, making it 3-0 in the 36th minute.

By halftime, Ghana had already put the game beyond Chad’s reach, demonstrating their superiority in every aspect of the game.

Second-Half Brilliance

The second half saw Ghana maintain their aggressive approach, continuing to press high and dominate possession. Chad struggled to keep up with the home side’s intensity, and it wasn’t long before the Black Stars added a fourth goal.

In the 56th minute, Ghana capitalized on a well-worked corner kick. Ernest Nuamah delivered a teasing ball into the box, and Mohammed Salisu rose unchallenged to head the ball into the net. The defensive frailties of Chad were exposed again, as Salisu found himself unmarked in the penalty area.

With the match already beyond Chad’s reach, Ghana showed no signs of slowing down. In the 68th minute, Nuamah got in on the act, capping off a wonderful team move. After a clever backheel pass from Ayew, the winger calmly slotted the ball home, making it 5-0 and adding the final touch to Ghana’s ruthless performance.

A Statement Victory

Ghana’s comprehensive victory showcased their attacking depth, with multiple players contributing to the goals. Semenyo, Williams, Ayew, Salisu, and Nuamah all found the back of the net, highlighting the team’s diverse attacking options. The Black Stars also demonstrated defensive solidity, keeping a clean sheet and limiting Chad’s chances throughout the match.

Otto Addo’s tactical setup allowed his team to control the game effortlessly, and his substitutions ensured that Ghana maintained their intensity until the final whistle. Players like Kamaldeen Sulemana, Joseph Paintsil, and Abu Francis added fresh energy when introduced, further emphasizing the squad’s depth.

With this victory, Ghana strengthened their position at the top of Group I, boosting their confidence ahead of their next fixture against Madagascar on Monday evening. The Black Stars will aim to carry this momentum forward as they continue their quest for a place in the FIFA World Cup.
