NPP Elder Condemns Adwoa Safo’s Public Criticism of Party Leadership

Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Council of Elders, has strongly criticized former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Adwoa Safo, for her continuous public outbursts against the party’s leadership. According to him, her actions are inappropriate and violate the party’s values, prompting the General Secretary to recommend that she face the disciplinary committee. Owusu-Agyemang insisted that Safo's public criticism of party executives must cease, as it is causing unnecessary tension within the NPP. He emphasized that such behavior was unacceptable, especially from someone who had previously held a senior position in both the party and government. He also pointed out that her remarks have created division within the party, which could weaken its unity ahead of future elections. The party, he warned, would not sit idly by while a member continuously disrespects its leadership through the media instead of seeking resolution through internal channels.

In addressing the growing concerns within the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Owusu-Agyemang reiterated the party’s stance that Adwoa Safo must stop making public statements about internal affairs. He explained that every political organization has disagreements, but the proper way to address them is through established party mechanisms rather than media confrontations. He expressed disappointment that someone of her political stature would engage in such conduct, despite knowing the potential consequences of her actions. The Council of Elders, he stressed, expects all party members—especially those in leadership—to uphold discipline and show respect for internal structures. He further warned that her behavior could damage the party’s public image and reduce its chances of electoral success if left unchecked. To prevent further escalation, the party will take necessary steps to ensure that its rules and regulations are upheld.

Despite his firm stance, Owusu-Agyemang remains hopeful that Adwoa Safo will reconsider her approach and comply with the directives of the party leadership. He made it clear that the General Secretary’s instruction for her to stop speaking publicly about the party’s issues was not a mere suggestion but an expectation that must be followed. He reassured that the party is committed to maintaining its unity and strength ahead of future elections. Moving forward, the NPP leadership will closely monitor the situation to ensure compliance with party rules. He reiterated that the focus remains on strengthening the party’s structures and addressing internal challenges through proper channels rather than engaging in public disputes. Safo’s cooperation, he believes, will be essential in ensuring the party’s continued stability and success.
