Kwame Baffoe, widely known as Abronye DC, has found himself at the center of political controversy following inflammatory comments made during a recent media appearance. The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made statements that many interpret as endorsing political violence ahead of Ghana's upcoming elections.

Speaking on Wontumi FM/Movement TV, Abronye DC issued what appeared to be a direct challenge to political rivals, particularly those from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). "If you fire a gun, I will fire a gun," he stated unequivocally. He further described his electoral strategy for the Bono Region in the 2024 elections as "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth."

The provocative remarks have drawn swift and widespread criticism from various quarters. Civil society organizations, political commentators, and concerned citizens have voiced alarm over rhetoric that seems to advocate for retaliatory violence. Critics argue that such statements could potentially trigger electoral conflicts and undermine Ghana's democratic foundations.

"This is not the kind of leadership we need in an election year," noted one political analyst, expressing a sentiment shared by many. "Such statements only serve to inflame tensions and endanger national peace."

As Ghana prepares for the 2024 general elections, Abronye DC's comments have heightened existing concerns about possible confrontations between opposing political groups. The timing of his remarks has particularly troubled those working to ensure peaceful elections.

Following the public outcry, Abronye DC reportedly attempted to clarify his position, but for many, the damage had already been done. The incident has fueled intense debate regarding the responsibilities political leaders have in maintaining peace and stability. Some NPP members have even called for internal disciplinary action to demonstrate the party's commitment to non-violent political engagement.

This episode highlights how quickly a single statement can escalate tensions in Ghana's politically charged environment. While Abronye DC remains an influential figure within the NPP, his controversial remarks may have significant implications for both his political future and the broader electoral climate in Ghana.
