Lord Kenya (2002) emerged as a trailblazer, winning four awards that night, including 'Artist of the Year.' His victory opened the floodgates for subsequent rappers and demonstrated that hip-hop artists could compete at the highest level of the Ghanaian music scene. Kontihene (2003) followed in his footsteps, with his song 'Aketesea' from the debut album 'Nyankonton' winning him both 'Popular Song of the Year' and 'New Artist of the Year', alongside the overall title.

In 2008, Kwaw Kese emerged victorious with five awards, including 'Hiplife Song of the Year.' In 2009, Okyeame Kwame, building on his past successes as part of the group Akyeame, claimed the award as a solo artist.

Sarkodie, a two-time winner in 2010 and 2012, has been a dominant force in the industry, known for his lyrical prowess and groundbreaking albums. E.L (2016) proved his mettle by winning 'Artiste of the Year' amidst fierce competition from other industry titans.
