Benjamin Asare Determined to Shine for Black Stars

Former Ghanaian goalkeeper Abukari Damba has praised Benjamin Asare for his impressive performances with the Black Stars, expressing confidence in the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper’s determination to establish himself as a key player in the national team.

Asare has been in remarkable form since earning his first call-up, securing consecutive clean sheets in his first two matches. He played a vital role in Ghana’s dominant 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium and followed it up with another stellar performance in a 3-0 win against Madagascar in Morocco. His consistent performances have drawn commendation from Damba, who believes Asare’s hunger and commitment to success set him apart.

“Benjamin Asare has proven beyond doubt that he is eager to leave his mark in the Black Stars,” Damba noted. He further highlighted the strong support Asare has received from his teammates, which has contributed significantly to his confidence. Damba emphasized that the entire Black Stars squad has embraced Asare, fostering a sense of trust and respect that has allowed him to perform with assurance.

Beyond his national team achievements, Asare has also excelled in club football, playing a crucial role for Hearts of Oak. So far, he has kept 12 clean sheets in 19 Ghana Premier League matches, demonstrating consistency and reliability in goal. His recent international displays have further boosted his confidence, reinforcing his ambition to secure a permanent spot in the Black Stars squad.

Looking ahead, the 26-year-old goalkeeper aims to retain his position as Ghana’s first-choice shot-stopper for the upcoming four-nation tournament in June. Additionally, he is preparing for the crucial Matchday 7 and 8 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. With his impressive performances and growing reputation, Asare is poised to become a long-term asset for Ghanaian football, solidifying his place as one of the nation’s most promising goalkeepers.
