Yoruba Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, widely known as Taye Currency, has openly declared that his popular Fuji counterpart, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma, is his boss, while he regards Saheed Osupa as a colleague.

Taye Currency shared this in an interview with Akede Ariya last Thursday, where he spoke about his relationship with Pasuma and how they first met.

He clarified that he did not learn Fuji music from Pasuma, but his admiration for him has always been strong, particularly due to Pasuma’s humility, which left a lasting impression on him.

He explained that there is no conflict between him and Pasuma, attributing any perceived tension to misunderstandings rather than any serious issue between them.

“I met Pasuma in 1993, and we’ve been close ever since. I didn’t learn Fuji from him, but I respect him because he is a humble person. It’s not about disrespecting him. I wasn’t his drummer or backup singer. He was in Lagos, I was in Ibadan, so the issues between us were stirred up by fan reactions. We’re not fighting. Those insulting us are the ones disrespecting us.

“Anyone who has known each other for 30 years, even in a boss-worker dynamic, can have disagreements. We’re not the first to experience a misunderstanding, but it’s our fans who keep fueling it. Pasuma is not a troublesome person, and neither am I. I keep asking: how have I insulted Pasuma? What have I said to insult him?

“Obesere, now a leader in Fuji music, is my brother. Saheed Osupa is my colleague; I know him as a fellow musician. But Pasuma is my boss, and I acknowledge that,” he said.

In October 2024, Taye Currency expressed dissatisfaction with fans calling Pasuma his ‘father’ in the music industry. He explained that he viewed Pasuma more like an elder brother and could never father him. This comment sparked a wave of online debates, with Pasuma's fans criticizing Taye Currency.

However, during the ongoing Umrah 2025 in Mecca, Taye Currency had a chance encounter with Pasuma on Wednesday, and he publicly expressed regret for any offense caused by his previous comments. In a viral video, he apologized to Pasuma and anyone hurt by his remarks, clarifying that his words had been misinterpreted.

He acknowledged Pasuma as his superior, reaffirmed that he had never insulted him, and stressed his respect and commitment to him.
