Man City star Erling Haaland departs the stadium on crutches, providing an update on his injuries.
Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, was substituted out of Sunday's FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Bournemouth and was later spotted sporting a protective boot.
Erling Haaland departed Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium on crutches on Sunday, and Manchester City is worried about his fitness for the Premier League final. Due to an ankle injury, he had to leave the game during the second half of their FA Cup quarterfinal victory.
The 24-year-old Haaland had a busy afternoon on the south shore. He watched Kepa Arrizabalaga save his penalty kick in the first half when there was still no goal, but he made up for it by scoring City's equaliser in the 49th minute after being wonderfully set up by second-half substitute Nico O'Reilly.
Sadly, Haaland's goal marked the high point of his afternoon as he was substituted out due to an injury sustained after his left foot became trapped beneath Lewis Cook's torso during a challenge from the Bournemouth midfielder.
After the hit, the striker did try to continue playing. However, a few minutes later, he called to get off since he didn't look comfortable.
When asked after the game how serious Haaland's situation was, Pep Guardiola was unable to offer any consolation, stating, "I don't know yet, we'll have to see."
As City gets ready to play out the remaining games of what has been a sobering season, Haaland may be in for a stint on the sidelines. However, he was spotted exiting the stadium a few minutes later on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
Haaland's injury occurs when City most needs their lucky charm. With so many teams still vying for a Champions League spot, the champions are fighting to finish in the top four after slipping far behind Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. Given their dominant domestic record in previous seasons, it would be nearly impossible for Guardiola's team to miss out.
To top off a terrible day, Roy Keane, a legend of Manchester United, once again attacked Haaland, casting doubt on the striker's skills after once saying his all-around play was that of a "League Two player."
The ITV commentator criticised Haaland's shoddy penalty miss this time. He remarked: "Haaland was smirking after missing a penalty and acting quite carelessly.
