Chief Superintendent Dr. Sarah Aba-Afari Appointed as Madina Divisional Commander

Chief Superintendent Dr. Sarah Aba-Afari has been appointed as the Madina Divisional Commander by the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tetteh Christian Yuhono. This milestone marks another significant achievement in her distinguished career within the Ghana Police Service.

Dr. Aba-Afari holds the distinction of being the first female PhD holder in the Ghana Police Service and Africa. She earned her doctorate in Art Education from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2017. In recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions to crime reduction, she was awarded two honorary doctorate degrees in Ministry and Christian Education from the Holy Spirit Bible University, USA, in October 2023.

Beyond her academic achievements, Dr. Aba-Afari has served in various capacities within the Ghana Police Service. Her work extends beyond Ghana, as she has also collaborated with the United Nations in both Europe and Africa. Additionally, she is a trained counselor and an expert in art therapy, with a strong focus on addressing gender issues and fighting human trafficking.

In November 2024, she was invited as a motivational speaker at KNUST’s 58th Congregation, where she shared insights from her career and encouraged graduates to embrace challenges and strive for excellence. Her speech resonated with many, highlighting her dedication to both professional and personal development.

Dr. Aba-Afari is an alumna of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School and Krachi Senior High School. She hails from Hohoe, Ghana, and successfully balances her professional responsibilities with her personal life as a wife and mother.

Her appointment as Madina Divisional Commander reflects her hard work, leadership, and commitment to the Ghana Police Service. It also serves as an inspiration for many young officers, particularly women, aspiring to leadership roles within the force.

This development comes amid significant changes in the Ghana Police Service, including recent transfers and restructuring under the new IGP. The appointment of Dr. Aba-Afari is expected to strengthen law enforcement efforts in Madina and contribute to ongoing security initiatives in the region.
