Following a decision made by Spain's National Sports Council (CSD), Dani Olmo and Pau Victor will be allowed to continue playing for Barcelona throughout the remainder of the season. In the summer, Barcelona received temporary registration licenses for Olmo and Victor, but La Liga later revoked those licenses on the grounds that the club had failed to demonstrate compliance with the league's financial regulations. According to AS, both Barcelona players are free to play in the remainder of the season after CSD ruled in their favour. The report states that the Blaugrana lacked the "authority to cancel the licenses of the players." La Liga had argued that the Blaugrana lacked the means to do so. Even though this ruling provides a brief boost to Barcelona's financial situation, the registration issues may simply be put on hold. This is because the Catalan team has reached a salary cap set by La Liga. As a result, they will have to find a way to register both teams again in the summer. After reaching an agreement to lease out 475 VIP seats at Camp Nou for 30 years in exchange for €100 million on December 31, 2024, Barcelona had high hopes that this registration issue would be resolved. Even though they have received €57 million (£47 million, or $61 million), La Liga has chosen not to include it in Barcelona's salary... It also enabled Barcelona to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season after there was genuine concern that the duo would have to be left out of Hansi Flick's squad.
LaLiga has alleged that the club's new full-time accounting firm, Crowe Spain, did not include the £84 million in the figures it sent in for this season. On December 31, a temporary accountant for Barcelona filed the paperwork to confirm the deal. "On January 3, 2025, a certificate issued by the club's new auditor was provided, recognising that the transaction was correctly recorded as income in the club's Profit and Loss account for the current season," LaLiga wrote in a statement released on Wednesday. In the interim financial statements for the first half of this season, no money from the aforementioned business operation is finally recorded in the Profit and Loss account. "That is contrary to what had been certified at the time of the execution of said operation by the Club and the auditor." Olmo and Victor are deemed to be "unregistered" because LaLiga has informed Barcelona that they have exceeded their spending limits by £84 million. Spain's Sports Council - a branch of the country's government - however, has found in favour of Barcelona, meaning Olmo and Victor are eligible to play and will remain a part of the club's campaign for a historic Treble.
