Rev John Ntim Fordjour, MP and ranking member of the Defence and Interior Committee, caused a scene during the Saturday, April 6, 2025 edition of Joy News Newsfile show when he walked off the show in a heated takedown by viewers following a heated debate concerning the recent cocaine scandal at Kotoka International Airport.
The discussion, in which NDC National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi and other experts were present, was centered on Rev Fordjour's claims that two unorthodox flights had landed at Kotoka International Airport and could be connected with drug trafficking and money laundering activities.
Fordjour, maintaining his earlier statements, called for investigations to protect the reputation of Ghana globally and not have the country become a hotspot for drug dealers.
But the claims were resisted fiercely by panelists like Gyamfi, who demanded tangible evidence to support Fordjour's claims.
The debate was heated as the host, Samson Lardy Anyenini, read several viewer messages condemning Fordjour for making unsubstantiated and possibly injurious claims.
The majority of the viewers questioned the MP's motives, accusing him of tarnishing Ghana's reputation without solid evidence. Some even accused him of politicizing a sensitive national security matter.
As the outrage mounted, Fordjour visibly became agitated.
He made quick but angry response to the negative criticism, stating that he would not be in a studio where public opinion was employed to keep out the truth. In anger, he ripped off his microphone and stormed out of the studio on live television, leaving the host and panel horrified.
This has generated a wider debate on the influence of MPs and public figures to raise national security concerns, whether evidence is needed in such cases, and the extent to which public opinion may influence political debates in Ghana.
Based on that allegations what is your take.
