Nhyira FM Feeds Over 500 Kumasi Residents at 2025 Fufu Party
The forecourt of Nhyira FM in Kumasi came alive as hundreds of residents and loyal listeners gathered to partake in the station’s highly anticipated annual fufu feast. The 2025 edition of the “Tim Tim Tɛm” fufu party was a huge success, drawing a large crowd eager to enjoy one of Ghana’s most beloved traditional dishes—fufu—served with a variety of rich, flavorful soups.
Attendees arrived in large numbers, many of them carrying traditional earthenware bowls, ready to be served hot, freshly pounded fufu at no cost. The event, known for celebrating local cuisine and fostering community spirit, attracted food lovers from all over the city, many of whom were lured by the tantalizing aromas of soups prepared by some of Kumasi’s most popular food vendors.
The fufu party featured specially selected caterers from well-known food joints and chop bars across Kumasi. These included Friends Gardens, Betty’s Kitchen, Young Lord Restaurant and Pub, Mavis Pub, and Sophia’s Restaurant. Each vendor is famed for its exceptional fufu and a wide variety of traditional soups, such as light soup, groundnut soup, palm nut soup, and goat meat soup, among others.
As guests were served, many expressed their delight and gratitude. One regular attendee shared with Nhyira News, “If I’m alive, I’ll come and eat fufu here any time Nhyira organises a fufu party. I ate fufu with aponkye (goat meat) and I really enjoyed myself.” Another satisfied participant commended the event’s planning and called for it to become an annual tradition, saying, “The programme was well-organised and coordinated. I think it should be repeated every year.”
The event was not just about food—it also offered entertainment. A lively musical segment got attendees dancing and added to the festive atmosphere. The music, combined with the aroma of delicious food and a sense of community, created a memorable experience for all who attended.
According to Event Coordinator Eric Inkoom, the team had initially set a goal of feeding at least 500 patrons, and this target was surpassed. Each of the five participating food vendors was tasked with serving a minimum of 100 people, which they successfully achieved. Inkoom also praised the efforts of the security personnel who helped maintain order and ensured that the large crowd was managed smoothly without any incidents.
He noted that while past editions of the fufu party have typically been held on public holidays, this year’s event was held over the weekend. However, the organisers are considering returning to a holiday schedule for the next edition to allow even more people to participate.
The event was made possible by the generous support of several sponsors, including Tasty Tom, Fung Yue Season Powder, Faith Homeopathic Clinic, Medi Moses Prostate, Tonkyi Herbal Center, Officer Bitters, and Cowbell. Their contributions played a key role in the event’s success and helped bring the community together in celebration of food, culture, and unity.
