Liverpool are on the verge of winning the Premier League crown, and defender Ibrahima Konate has responded to claims that the campaign could be a disappointment. The Reds have enjoyed a standout first campaign under manager Arne Slot. They are 11 points clear of Arsenal after the weekend’s results, meaning Liverpool could be crowned champions as early as two weeks from now.

Despite their success, some have suggested that the season has been a disappointment, as the Reds have failed to win any other trophies. Former Liverpool star Michael Owen is among those who have suggested this. However, defender Konate is not convinced and believes the season is still a resounding success.

“If you asked every player and every fan what they want,” the Frenchman said. “What would you choose: playing for every trophy without knowing the outcome or a chance to win the Premier League? I think everyone would choose the latter.”

We shouldn't let the media dictate our perception of the season. Not winning the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and being out of the Champions League doesn't mean we had a bad season.” “Nobody was expecting us to be where we are today, and we're just taking it one game at a time.”

Konate also shared his excitement about the potential of winning the Premier League, saying it would be a special moment for everyone in the club. He recalled his reaction to winning the Carabao and FA Cup, saying he felt like he was going crazy and couldn't believe it.

Not one of us, not even the players who won the Premier League in 2020, knows what will happen if we win it. This will be special for everybody in this club.
