Lagos Police Bust Baby Factory, Rescue 10 Victims, Arrest 3 Operators


The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation. On April 5, 2025, the police command confirmed the rescue of 11 victims and the arrest of three individuals involved in operating a baby factory in the Ijegun area of the state.


According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, the police received a tip-off about the illegal operation and swiftly mobilized detectives to the scene. The officers arrested Mariam Vincent, 35, the operator of the facility, along with two accomplices, Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18. During the raid, the police rescued seven women and three children, all held against their will.


The adult victims, identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26), are currently receiving care and support. The children rescued were Destiny, a seven-year-old boy, Miracle, a five-year-old girl, and Success, a two-year-old girl. The victims are believed to have been abducted from different parts of the state for the purpose of running the baby factory.


The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation, revealing the shocking extent of their operation. The police are continuing their investigation, and the suspects will face charges accordingly. This breakthrough is a significant step forward in the fight against human trafficking and exploitation in Lagos State.


In a related development, the Lagos State Police Command successfully rescued two victims abducted by kidnappers in the Igbe Alagemo community in Ijede, Ikorodu, on March 26, 2025. The rescue operation, which culminated in the safe return of the victims on March 29, followed a distress call received by the police.


The Lagos State Police Command has been working tirelessly to combat various crimes, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child stealing, vandalism, and illicit drug trafficking. In the past two weeks, the command has arrested 39 suspects involved in these crimes.
