Exactly one year after the tragic passing of Nollywood actor Junior Pope, his wife, Jennifer Awele, has made an emotional return to social media to honour his memory. The actor, who lost his life in a devastating boat accident, left behind a grieving family and a community of fans who continue to mourn his loss. On Thursday, April 10, Awele broke her months-long silence with a heartfelt tribute that captured the pain, love, and enduring void his absence has created.

In her message, Jennifer described the past year as one of unimaginable sorrow. She revealed that not a day has gone by without thoughts of her late husband, whose presence is still deeply felt. “Your love still surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts,” she wrote, adding that the grief remains heavy and the void left behind is one that words cannot fill. Her post painted a picture of strength through pain, as she explained how the family is learning to take life one step at a time, leaning on divine strength for guidance.

Jennifer also opened up about the emotional toll of parenting without her partner. She shared how their sons — Jason, Jaden, and Jamon — still hold on to promises their father made before his passing. The older boys frequently ask whether their dad will still take them to a proper football academy and attend their first official match, recalling how he had assured them he “wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.” The youngest, Jamon, lovingly called “J Papa,” keeps asking when his father will bring him the big toy car he had promised. Jennifer admitted that she still struggles to find the right words to answer their innocent questions.

Despite the deep sadness, Jennifer expressed her gratitude to all those who have supported her family during this difficult time. She thanked relatives, friends, and celebrities for standing by them and showing immense love. Sharing a family photo that included a portrait of Junior Pope, she concluded with a moving message: “Though you’re no longer by our side, you live on in every memory, every smile, and every tear. We shall carry you with us always, until we meet again.”
