Alleged Cocaine Brouhaha: Rev. Ntim Fordjour Is Leaving Us with No Option Than to Arrest Him - Deputy Director of NACOC.

Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Twum Barima Esq., has refuted claims that Ghana is being used as a conduit for drug trafficking and money laundering, allegations propagated by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member of Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee and Member of Parliament for Assin South.

The controversy emerged following reports of two private aircraft, Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov 12B, allegedly arriving in Ghana carrying illicit substances and large sums of money. These claims prompted President John Dramani Mahama to direct state security agencies to expedite investigations into the matter.

In an interview on Joy News' AM show on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Twum Barima stated that Rev. Ntim Fordjour has not provided any evidence to support his allegations yet continues to disseminate falsehoods. He emphasized that NACOC was aware of the aircraft's arrival at Kotoka International Airport and had prepared a team of experts to conduct thorough inspections.

"When I resumed office, we were prompted about a search that was about to go on at the airport on a particular aircraft. The aircraft in question is the very flight Ntim Fordjour mentioned in his letter; Cavok Air Antonov 12B. I was assigned by the Director-General to be with our men as we did our work. The work was not done by NACOC alone; it was done by customs, National Security, and NIB. Little did we know that something like this would come up," he explained.

Twum Barima further noted, Because it was my very first exercise, I took a 24-second video of the aircraft. We did all our checks on this flight prior to Ntim Fordjour's information, and everything turned out to be negative. There was no cocaine nor anything that would warrant any arrest.

He concluded by expressing frustration over the unfounded allegations, stating, The way he [Rev. Ntim Fordjour] is going about things leaves us with no option than to arrest him.
