If Afenyo-Markin doesn’t present Ntim Fordjour today; we shall remove him from his house – Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, Coordinator of the Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), has issued a firm ultimatum to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, demanding that Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, be presented to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10.
According to Mr. Vanderpuye, failure to honour this agreement will compel security agencies to forcibly remove Rev. Fordjour from his residence.
This warning follows a failed attempt by NIB operatives on Wednesday to arrest Rev. Fordjour over claims he made regarding alleged drug trafficking and money laundering involving two private aircraft that landed at Kotoka International Airport. The operation was abruptly suspended without official explanation, amid protests from New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials and supporters, who attributed the halt to their resistance.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Mr. Vanderpuye disclosed that the operation was halted following a request from Afenyo-Markin, who assured National Security that Rev. Fordjour would voluntarily report for questioning by the set deadline. Vanderpuye indicated that this arrangement was mutually agreed upon between the Minority Leader and government officials, stressing that expectations remain for a peaceful and orderly process.
He urged Afenyo-Markin to fulfil his commitment and ensure Rev. Fordjour’s cooperation, stating, “Somebody must advise Ntim Fordjour, and I will allow Afenyo-Markin to exercise the opportunity given to him today. By 10:00, he must present Ntim Fordjour for questioning.”
Mr. Vanderpuye also criticised the conduct of Minority MPs who assembled at Rev. Fordjour’s residence to obstruct the arrest, describing their behaviour as unruly and disrespectful toward state security agencies.
“What they did yesterday was inappropriate and a total disrespect for the security services. If the Minority Leader does not present him today, we shall remove him from his house,” he warned.
