Sir Jim Ratcliffe's much-maligned spell as Manchester United minority owner took further criticism, as one of the club's all-time greats Eric Cantona expressed his anger at the current measures being taken by the INEOS chairman. Since Ratcliffe took the helm over a year ago, there have been several rounds of redundancies, while controversial plans to build a new 100,000 stadium were announced.
"This team of directors has tried to destroy everything since Ratcliffe arrived, and they don't respect anyone," Ratcliffe stated in BBC Sport quotes. "Seeing United in this kind of situation makes me sad. They decided something else. They are working on a different plan and project." The 58-year-old went on to say that he would support a different team now if given the choice in his evaluation of the club. "I support United because I really love United, but now if I was a fan and I had to choose a club I don't think I would choose United," Cantona said.
Lyon take on United on Thursday, April 10, at the Groupama Stadium, with the game kicking off at 20:00 BST.

Cantona also revealed that he had personally offered to assist the club in a hands-on role but was turned away. With a busy schedule that includes filming commitments until October, he said he was willing to set aside his own projects for the sake of United, but the United leadership was not convinced.
"Until the end of October this year I will shoot movies," he added.
"But I said to them, I can put that (aside) and concentrate and help you to rebuild something. And they don’t care. Me too, because I work. I don’t ask anything. But I feel sad to see United in this kind of situation.
