A significant step towards deepening bilateral relations was taken on April 9, 2025, when the Ghana-Czech Business Forum was held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The high-level event was part of the official state visit by Czech Republic President Petr Pavel to Ghana and brought together influential players from both the public and private sectors of the two countries.
The forum served as a platform for key stakeholders to explore mutually
beneficial opportunities in trade and investment. Former President John Dramani
Mahama addressed the gathering, emphasizing Ghana’s strong commitment to
creating a business-friendly environment. He highlighted strategic sectors such
as transport and logistics, agro-processing, digital technology, healthcare,
manufacturing, and tourism as areas ripe for Czech investment.
President Mahama also drew attention to Ghana’s proactive policies aimed at
enhancing economic activity. He spoke on the government’s 24-Hour Economy
Policy, which seeks to expand job opportunities, particularly for the youth,
while maximizing national productivity. In addition, he underscored the
strategic advantages of Ghana’s trade agreements under the African Continental
Free Trade Area and the Economic Partnership Agreement, pointing out how these
frameworks provide access to wider markets for investors.
Czech President Petr Pavel, in his remarks, praised Ghana’s stable democracy
and economic potential. He urged Czech companies to take advantage of the
strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries to explore viable
partnerships. He also announced plans to host a reciprocal business forum in
Prague later this year to further enhance cooperation.
A crucial feature of the forum was the Business-to-Business session
organized by the Ghana Free Zones Authority. This session enabled direct
engagements between Ghanaian Free Zone Enterprises and Czech firms, opening up
opportunities for meaningful collaborations and investment in various sectors.
The successful organization of the Ghana-Czech Business Forum reflects
growing confidence in Ghana as a destination for sustainable partnerships and
productive economic engagement. The event not only showcased Ghana’s readiness
to work with international partners but also laid the foundation for stronger
cooperation between Ghana and the Czech Republic in the years ahead.
