Benjamin Asare Extends Hearts of Oak Stay With New Two-Year Deal

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has signed a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027. The experienced shot-stopper, who is currently 32, has opted to continue his journey with the Phobians following the expiration of his existing deal which was set to end in 2026. This development brings a wave of excitement to the club’s supporters and management alike.

The club officially announced the extension through a statement, expressing satisfaction at securing the services of one of Ghana’s top goalkeepers. According to the statement, the board and management are thrilled that Asare has renewed his contract, reinforcing their ambition of building a solid team around experienced talents.

Benjamin Asare, who made headlines with his debut for the Black Stars, has become a dependable figure in both domestic and international football. Despite receiving interest from top North African clubs including Raja Casablanca and CD Belouizdad, Asare chose to remain loyal to Hearts of Oak. This decision demonstrates his commitment to the club and belief in its vision.

The goalkeeper’s form in the current Ghana Premier League season has been exceptional. He has managed 13 clean sheets in 20 games, conceding just eight goals—figures that reflect his dominance between the posts. His performances have not only secured wins for Hearts of Oak but have also earned him the position of first-choice goalkeeper for the national team, ahead of Lawrence Ati Zigi and Jojo Wollacot.

Asare’s standout displays during Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, where he recorded back-to-back clean sheets, have further cemented his place as a key player in the national setup. His composure, shot-stopping ability, and leadership from the backline make him a vital asset for both club and country.

The extension comes at a time when Hearts of Oak are pushing to maintain their momentum in the Ghana Premier League. Asare’s continued presence offers much-needed stability and confidence for the team’s backline as they aim for silverware. His decision to stay is viewed as a major win for the club, and supporters will be hoping his form continues to inspire the team in the matches ahead.
