Kevin-Prince Boateng, the former Ghana international who enjoyed a stellar

launch of his player agency, Rookie & Champ. The agency's mission is to
guide young football talents, using Boateng's own life experiences to help them
navigate the challenges of professional football.
Speaking at the TransferRoom Summit, Boateng reflected on the early days of
his own career, a period that shaped his desire to offer mentorship to the next
generation of players. He recalled his move to Tottenham at the age of
eighteen, a moment that initially seemed like a dream but quickly turned into a
disappointment when the coach informed him he was not wanted just days later.
This early setback became a defining moment in Boateng's life and career,
inspiring him to ensure that young players receive the kind of support and
guidance he lacked during his own formative years.
In the interview, Boateng shared his philosophy on what it takes to succeed
in football, emphasizing that fame and money should not be the primary goals
for aspiring players. "Money, fame, the big club—they’re not always the
right steps. That’s why I’m bringing my experience. I want to be there for my
boys,” he said. His goal is not just to focus on developing technical skills
but also to prepare players mentally and emotionally for the demands of
top-level football.
The agency, Rookie & Champ, aims to equip players, starting from the age
of eighteen, with the necessary tools to thrive in professional football.
Boateng expressed his commitment to ensuring that his players are ready to face
the pressure of performing in front of large crowds, saying, “You have a Rookie
& Champ player at eighteen—he’s ready. He can stand in front of fifty
thousand people and take that penalty.” He also added with sincerity that if he
had received similar mentorship during his early years, he would have had a
more successful and sustained career at top clubs like Real Madrid.
Now retired from playing professionally, Boateng is channelling his energy
into building a legacy beyond football. With Rookie & Champ, he is
committed to mentoring the next generation of players, using his own journey,
both the highs and lows, to shape their futures and ensure they are not just
