Deloitte West Africa has launched the Ghana edition of its highly anticipated Technology, Media, and Telecom (TMT) Predictions Report for 2025. The launch, which culminated in an insightful webinar, attracted policymakers and industry leaders from various sectors. The report provides valuable insights into the technological trends expected to shape the global and local markets in the coming years.

One of the major highlights of the report is the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in smartphones. Deloitte predicts that by 2025, global smartphone shipments will experience a 7% growth rate, a slight increase from the 5% growth in 2024. A notable projection is that 30% of all smartphones shipped will incorporate generative AI (gen AI) on-device, revolutionizing how smartphones interact with users. According to Deloitte’s findings, 50% of individuals aged 24 to 45 are more likely to upgrade their smartphones sooner due to the integration of generative AI features, compared to just 7% overall. This trend shows a clear consumer shift towards smarter, AI-powered devices.

The report emphasizes the potential of generative AI to make smartphones not only more personalized but also more intuitive, adapting to user preferences and offering more conversational interfaces. However, Deloitte urges companies to closely monitor the adoption rate of next-generation AI smartphone features, which will help determine market readiness and consumer demand.

In the media sector, the report highlights that while large studios are cautious about integrating generative AI in content creation, social media platforms are quick to adopt these tools. While studios are experimenting with AI-driven content, they remain wary of the associated risks, such as intellectual property concerns and the immature state of AI technology. Deloitte forecasts that, in 2025, top studios will allocate less than 3% of their production budgets to generative AI content creation, signalling a cautious approach to adopting this transformative technology.

Finally, the report addresses the evolving role of sports stadiums as key investments in both the private and public sectors. Deloitte suggests that stadiums will no longer just be about the interests of a single sports club. Instead, they will be seen as community hubs aimed at enhancing fan engagement, driving socioeconomic growth, and creating new revenue streams. This shift is expected to maximize outcomes for private investors while helping public-sector objectives in areas like infrastructure development.

Overall, Deloitte’s 2025 TMT Predictions underscore the transformative power of AI and technology across various sectors, urging companies to prepare for the rapid changes that lie ahead.
