Blossom Academy, a leading data-focused educational institution in Africa, has received a major boost from the Internet Society Foundation through its SCILLS programme. The grant aims to support Blossom Academy’s ongoing efforts to equip 150 underemployed young people in Ghana with practical data analytics skills, with 50% of the beneficiaries expected to be women.

The initiative, according to Blossom Academy Director Jeph Acheampong, goes beyond teaching digital tools—it is about empowering young people to build sustainable careers in a fast-changing, tech-driven world. He emphasized that the programme’s broader mission is to contribute to Ghana’s digital transformation by preparing the youth to fill the growing demand for data professionals.

With a strong record of success, Blossom Academy has built a pan-African alumni base of nearly 700 individuals since its founding in 2019, mainly in Ghana and Nigeria. The institution’s impressive 85% job placement rate per training cohort positions it as a trailblazer in bridging the digital divide across Africa.

The Internet Society Foundation highlighted Blossom Academy’s learner-centred model, its prioritization of digital safety, and its measurable impact in transforming lives through digital literacy. This recognition underlines the importance of community-focused initiatives that not only offer technical training but also provide long-term career guidance and mentorship.

For graduates like Pachomius Kweku Lawson, the experience at Blossom Academy has been nothing short of life-changing. He shared that the programme gave him a deep understanding of real-world data analytics applications and helped him transition confidently into a professional career in tech. He expressed excitement that others would now get the same opportunity to shape their future through this newly funded programme.

As the academy prepares to scale up its reach, the focus remains on inclusive education and empowering women to actively participate in the digital economy. Blossom Academy’s commitment to social impact, skill development, and employment generation makes it a key player in Ghana’s ongoing digital revolution.

With the added support from the Internet Society Foundation, Blossom Academy is set to transform more lives and inspire the next generation of tech leaders ready to thrive in local and global markets.
