Black Stars No.1 Benjamin Asare Receives Cash Gifts After Helping Hearts to Draw in GPL.

Benjamin Asare Steals the Spotlight as Hearts Share the Spoils with Vision FC.

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare was the standout performer as the Phobians played out a 1-1 draw against Vision FC on matchday 27 of the Ghana Premier League.

Despite conceding a goal, Asare earned the admiration of the Rainbow faithful for his assured performance at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema Newtown. His composure, shot-stopping ability, and leadership at the back drew widespread praise from fans, who later showed their appreciation by showering the 32-year-old with cash gifts after the final whistle.

Asare’s influential display ensured Hearts came away with a point, even though Kelvin Osei-Assibey’s first-half goal was later cancelled out by a sublime second-half strike from Meschack Adjetey.

The experienced shot-stopper, who has now become a cornerstone of Hearts’ defence, was visibly moved by the fans' generosity. Their gesture continues a growing trend this season of supporters recognising individual brilliance, with players like Kevin Osei Assibey also receiving similar rewards.

Although he missed out on another clean sheet, Asare's impact remains undeniable. With 13 shutouts in 21 appearances, he ranks among the league's top goalkeepers. His command of aerial balls, anticipation of danger, and ability to distribute under pressure have kept him firmly at the top of the pecking order.

However, the draw did little to improve Hearts’ standing in the league. Still outside the top four, they trail joint-leaders Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars by six points, according to Flashscore and  GhanaFA.org.

As the season heads into its final stretch, Hearts will look to bounce back with a crucial away fixture against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyeman Badu Stadium on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Once again, all eyes will be on Asare to anchor the defence as the Phobians aim to keep their title hopes alive.

In a campaign marked by inconsistency, Benjamin Asare has emerged as a pillar of reliability—delivering not only clean sheets but also a renewed sense of belief in Hearts of Oak’s championship ambitions. His stock has risen even higher following a strong debut for the senior national team, where he kept consecutive clean sheets in World Cup qualifiers.
