With defeats to Newcastle and Wolves, respectively, Manchester United and Tottenham's Premier League campaigns suffered additional misery and landed them firmly in the bottom half of the table. But was there ever any doubt that two of the biggest teams in the league might find themselves embroiled in a fight for relegation? As the season comes to a close, TNT Sports conducts financial analysis. Tottenham Hotspur, one of the traditional "big six" rivals, is currently one point behind United after a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Wolves. Two teams that typically compete at the top of the table find themselves in unfamiliar territory in the bottom half of the table and looking over their shoulders. Amorim himself acknowledged the dreaded "R-word" earlier in the campaign, and Ange Postecoglou and his work at Spurs have been the subject of open debate. However, with Southampton already condemned to a swift return to the Championship and Ipswich and Leicester effectively requiring miracles, the red half of Manchester and the Lilywhite half of north London can breathe easy for the remainder of the campaign.

Strangely, given that they are still in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League ahead of second-leg matches against Lyon and Eintracht Frankfurt, one of the two could still win a trophy and qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League. Tottenham, who face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday as they look to keep their trophy hopes alive, could hardly have had a worse start at Molineux, with the hosts taking the lead inside 85 seconds.

Nelson Semedo pounced on a loose pass from Vicario and fed Larsen, but the Norwegian somehow scuffed wide of the goal, giving Wolves a chance to double their lead almost immediately. Spurs began to show the threat they also possess with Yves Bissouma rifling in an effort that Jose Sa was alert to beat away as he was called into action for the first time.

Spurs hit back again when Richarlison nodded in from close range, but, once again, Wolves quickly responded.

Cunha, a second-half substitute making his return to action, dispossessed Lucas Bergvall in the middle of the field, tucked his finish skillfully into the bottom corner, and then saluted the Wolves fans immediately.
