An Opta supercomputer has crunched the numbers and determined who is most likely to win the UEFA Champions League in the wake of the quarter-final first legs. Arsenal is currently leading Real Madrid 3-0, Barcelona is leading Borussia Dortmund 4-0, Paris Saint-Germain is leading Aston Villa 3-1, and Internazionale is leading Bayern Munich 2-1. Arsenal, meanwhile, defeated 15-time winners and reigning champions Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Declan Rice arrowed in two sensational free-kicks, before Mikel Merino sealed the first-leg victory with his sixth goal in 10 games.
Opta has given Barcelona a 99.2% chance of making it to the Champions League semi-finals after their 4-0 victory on Wednesday.
Arsenal supporters will be pleased to learn that they have been given an 89.7% chance of winning the tie and reaching their first semi-final since 2009, despite Real's propensity to do the unthinkable in the Champions League. Meanwhile, PSG, led by French starlet Desire Doue and Georgian wide receiver Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, have a 90.9% chance of reaching the semifinals. PSG beat Villa to win the game. Naturally, that means Unai Emery’s men are only 9.1% likely to turn their tie around.
Finally, Inter have been given a 72.6% chance of making it to the semi-finals, while Bayern’s chances are at 27.4%.
Arsenal v Barcelona is currently most likely to be the Champions League final, with both sides having been given a 26.4% chance of winning the competition outright.
PSG have been given a 23.1% chance of winning the Champions League, while Inter are at 16.7%.
Bayern has a chance of 4.2%, Real has a chance of 2.1%, Villa has a chance of 1%, and Dortmund has no chance of winning the tournament. Their task against Los Blancos should not be underestimated however. The clash between Arsenal and Real Madrid could barely be deemed tighter with the Gunners earning a slight advantage with a 50.2 per cent chance of beating their opponents.
Carlo Ancelotti's team are considered as fifth favourites for the competition despite their storied history. They have been give a 12.2 per cent chance of retaining their title.
