FCT Records 95% Budget Performance Under Nyesom Wike's Leadership
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT Administration has achieved an impressive 95% performance of its 2024 budget. This remarkable feat was disclosed during an inspection of ongoing projects in the territory, showcasing the administration's commitment to delivering on its promises.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the quality of work on various projects, including the International Conference Centre (ICC) and several road projects. The minister noted that the contractors handling these projects have lived up to expectations, and the FCT Administration has ensured timely payments to avoid delays. The ICC, in particular, has undergone significant renovations and is expected to be completed soon.
The 2024 budget, which has been extended to June, has seen substantial progress, with Wike emphasizing that there have been no hindrances to funding. The minister attributed this success to effective planning and implementation. "In terms of implementation of the 2024 budget, I can tell you we have done not less than 90-95 percent of the budget. But that is history. That has never happened before," Wike stated.
Some of the notable projects inspected by Wike include the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, road network and interchanges, and the ICC renovation. The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal is expected to be completed in September, while the road projects are nearing completion. The ICC renovation is expected to be completed in late April or early May.
Wike explained that the FCT Administration has been working within the law to implement the budget, ensuring that projects are completed without delays. The minister also mentioned that the 2025 budget has been conveyed to the National Assembly and is awaiting appropriation. The statutory budget for the FCT will be used to pay contractors for ongoing projects.
The FCT's impressive budget performance has significant implications for the territory's development. Wike's leadership has prioritized infrastructure development, education, and security, transforming the capital city. The minister's commitment to delivering on promises has earned him recognition as a leader who gets things done.
As the FCT Administration looks to the future, it is expected that the momentum will be maintained, with new projects and initiatives aimed at further developing the territory. With the 2025 budget on the horizon, stakeholders are eager to see how the administration will build on its successes and address any challenges that arise.
The FCT's 95% budget performance is a testament to Wike's effective leadership and commitment to delivering on promises. As the territory continues to develop, it is essential to maintain this momentum and ensure that projects are completed to the highest standards. With the 2025 budget on the horizon, the FCT Administration is poised to build on its successes and drive further growth and development in the territory.
