The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) President, Alfred Asiedu Adjei, has expressed profound gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, for his unwavering dedication to enhancing sanitation and promoting local economic development across the country. This commendation was made during a high-level meeting between NALAG and Zoomlion, aimed at strengthening their collaboration and fostering national development through effective local governance systems.

Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management and environmental sanitation company, has been a vital partner to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) nationwide. Through its initiatives, Zoomlion has substantially improved sanitation infrastructure, enhanced public cleanliness, and contributed significantly to better health outcomes, particularly at the grassroots level. The company's impact on local governance is undeniable, aligning with the national vision for decentralization and effective local governance.

During the meeting, Adjei highlighted the pivotal role Zoomlion has played in bolstering sanitation systems across districts, stating, "As a nation, we cannot overlook the crucial role Zoomlion has played in strengthening sanitation systems across our districts." He proposed a new level of collaboration to empower local structures, focusing on four key areas :

- Enhancing Internal Revenue Generation: Developing initiatives to increase revenue for local assemblies

- Poverty Reduction: Creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to reduce poverty

- Capacity Building: Training and equipping Unit Committee Members with necessary skills and knowledge

- Public Education: Intensifying public education on sanitation and waste management to prevent disease outbreaks

The NALAG President emphasized the importance of strengthening local governance structures, noting that "when local governance structures are strengthened, the entire nation stands to benefit." He also stressed the need for expanded public education on waste management, particularly in underserved communities, to promote behavioral change and sustain sanitation gains.

In response, Zoomlion CEO Joseph Siaw Agyepong welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for NALAG's recognition of the company's contributions. He reiterated Zoomlion's commitment to partnering with local government institutions to further strengthen their operations and community engagement. "Zoomlion believes in building from the ground up," he stated. "Our success has always depended on the trust and partnerships we've built with MMDAs."

The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint working group to develop a roadmap for the proposed partnership. This collaboration is expected to lead to structured training programs, targeted community education campaigns, and innovative economic development models tailored to local assembly needs.

This partnership marks a new era of cooperation between the private sector and local government institutions, anchored on shared responsibility and a unified vision for inclusive, people-centered national development. By working together, NALAG and Zoomlion aim to create a more sustainable and efficient waste management ecosystem in Ghana, ultimately contributing to the country's overall development.

In recent years, Zoomlion has demonstrated its commitment to job creation, with the company providing over 250,000 jobs across the country. Additionally, the Jospong Group, Zoomlion's parent company, has launched initiatives like the Jospong-Komptech Waste Academy to train stakeholders in integrated solid waste management, further solidifying its dedication to sustainable waste management practices.

By partnering with NALAG, Zoomlion can leverage its expertise and resources to drive meaningful change in local governance and sanitation, ultimately improving the lives of Ghanaians nationwide.
