Ghanaian rapper Guru has opened up about the challenges he faced while collaborating with actor Kojo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, particularly during their studio sessions.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the NKZ Music boss responded to a listener's question about his decision to feature Lil Win on a track despite his lack of a musical background.
Guru explained that his motivation stemmed from a desire to bridge the gap between the music and movie industries. He believed Lil Win, a prominent figure in Ghana’s film scene, was the perfect candidate for this crossover.
Some of their songs include; “Meba Ba Tia Wo,” “Alkayida,” and “Yeda Moase.”
However, Guru admitted that the process wasn’t easy. Lil Win’s unfamiliarity with standard studio practices made recording sessions particularly difficult.
“Kojo Nkansah has always been an inspiration to many people, and I had always wanted to discover and nurture that musical side of him,” Guru said. “But it was quite tough, especially since he wasn’t coming from a musical background. Even during recording, it was challenging—he didn’t know how to hold the microphone properly or even how to speak into it.”
Despite these hurdles, the two have gone on to release several popular collaborative tracks that have resonated with fans, including “Meba Ba Tia Wo,” “Alkayida,” and “Yeda Moase.”
