President John Mahama’s first 100 days in office have been marked by bold decisions and quick actions aimed at fixing the economy, improving education, protecting the environment, and ensuring good governance.To make government more efficient, Mahama reduced the number of ministries from 30 to 23. He also appointed 42 ministers, who were all approved by Parliament in just two weeks. He stopped the sale of state lands and paused the use of public funds for the National Cathedral project. A Constitution Review Committee was also set up to recommend changes to Ghana’s laws.On the economic front, Mahama created a team to lead national talks on recovery and also formed a committee to review workers’ salaries. He reduced Hajj fees and hostel charges at the University of Ghana to ease financial pressure on citizens.In education, he introduced plans to use local languages in early childhood teaching, build more libraries, provide free textbooks, and revive abandoned school projects like the E-blocks and TVET centers.For the environment, he launched programs to stop illegal mining and restore forests and rivers. In security, he reopened investigations into past election violence and corruption cases.

He also promised to complete abandoned school projects like E-blocks and TVET centers.On the environment, he ordered a stop to illegal mining and introduced two new programs: “Tree for Life” and the “Blue Water Initiative,” to restore damaged lands and water bodies.When it comes to justice and security, Mahama directed the police to reopen investigations into unresolved cases from past elections, such as the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence and the murder of journalist Ahmed Suale. He also formed a team to investigate stolen state assets by corrupt officials.Mahama’s first 100 days show a strong and focused start. He has laid a foundation for progress, even though some promises are still waiting to be fulfilled. Ghanaians are watching closely to see how he continues in the contactming months.
