You people can’t bring me down" — Hopeson Adorye angry over cheating allegations involving wife Empress Gifty
Ghanaian politician Hopeson Adorye has strongly denounced viral social media allegations accusing his wife, renowned gospel musician Empress Gifty, of infidelity.
The rumors, which surfaced and quickly spread earlier this week, claim that Empress Gifty was caught in an affair with a man identified as Kofi Owusu. In a sensational twist, the alleged incident is said to have occurred in the couple’s own bedroom.
An anonymous post circulating online stated:
"Yesterday, Hopeson Adorye caught Empress Gifty in an extramarital affair with a man named Kofi Owusu on their matrimonial bed. Upon discovering them, Hopeson reportedly slapped Gifty, and the matter is now with the Tesano Police."
In response, Adorye has vehemently denied the allegations, expressing outrage and accusing his detractors of attempting to tarnish his family’s reputation and derail his political ambitions.
“You people can’t bring me down. You think you can hide on the internet and misbehave? Even the people you’re fighting for are pleading with me to return to the party,” he stated in a video that has since gone viral.
Directing a stern warning to the individual behind the accusations, Adorye condemned the emotional and reputational damage inflicted on his wife.
“I’m warning you—call your mother and tell her you will die very soon. How can you fabricate such damaging lies about a fellow woman and try to destroy her hard-earned reputation? She has children and serves as a brand ambassador for multiple products. That’s her livelihood,” he declared.
He further revealed that steps are being taken to identify and possibly prosecute the person responsible for the rumors.
“I just came from the Immigration Service and have all your information. Don’t you know I can sue you in the country where you live? Don’t joke with me,” he added.
The explosive allegations have sparked widespread debate online. While some users are demanding concrete evidence, others have expressed concern over the reported physical assault mentioned in the anonymous post. Empress Gifty has yet to issue an official response.
