Nigeria My Country: A Land of Glory and Gloom

Hmm! Nigeria, my country…

Where do I even start from?

Don’t tell me you’ve never visited the Giant of Africa!

Why haven’t you stepped foot in Nigeria to witness the breathtaking Idanre Hills,

The mystical charm of Awhum Waterfalls,

Or the thrilling wild of Yankari Game Reserve?

Well, if your plane just touched down at Murtala Muhammed Airport,

Welcome to Nigeria.

A Cultural Powerhouse

Nigeria is a country of over 250 languages—

A true multicultural zone.

Here, food is love.

Our recipes will tease your taste buds,

And our meals will make your tongue dance with joy.

The best part?

Each tribe has its own special delicacy.

Imagine choosing from over 250 dishes!

Amazing, right?

The Home of Afrobeats and Nollywood

Welcome to Nigeria,

Where music lives in our DNA.

You’ve surely heard of global sensations like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.

And yes, rising stars like Rema, Asake, Fireboy, and Ckay are Nigerian too.

Surprised?

Well, now you know.

This is also the land of Nollywood—

The second-largest film industry in the world.

From comedy kings Aki and Pawpaw to legends like Funke Akindele,

We tell our stories with heart, humor, and hustle.

---

God’s Own Country?

Nigeria is blessed—

With rich lands, natural resources, and resilient people.

It’s as if during creation, God said,

“Nigerians are special to Me.”

We are over 200 million strong

And our strength is visible across the globe.

Nigerians are hardworking, smart, and unshakable.

So, you're thinking of visiting now?

---

But Don’t Conclude the Story Yet…

Because Nigeria is also a land of storms.

Can you imagine—

We’re one of the world’s top crude oil producers,

Yet we often lack fuel in our own filling stations.

The irony!

---

The Harsh Realities

Welcome to Nigeria,

Where thieves are celebrated,

And the rightful are despised.

Where the masses feed on crumbs,

And cheer loudly when a single road is built.

Electricity?

It’s no longer an amenity—

It’s a prayer request to heaven.

People sleep with one eye open,

Afraid of kidnappers in their very homes.

Yet somehow, we’ve learned to smile at our oppressors

While fighting each other.

---

Tribalism, Injustice, and Misery

Welcome to Nigeria,

Where the Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa tribes argue endlessly,

While their common oppressors go unchecked.

Where broad daylight robbery isn’t considered a crime.

Where the judiciary is in private pockets.

Where the rich are never wrong,

And the poor are always guilty.

Our so-called leaders?

They divide us instead of uniting us.

In truth, they are rulers, not leaders.

Democracy has given way to autocracy.

We live like voluntary slaves,

Refusing to challenge the chains.

---

The Nigerian Paradox

Welcome to Nigeria,

A land full of promise,

Overflowing with talent, culture, and joy—

Yet weighed down by corruption, division, and pain.

A country where its people are in constant misery,

But still find a way to smile.

This is Nigeria.
My Nigeria.
Our Nigeria.
