It was a moment of unity and renewed hope as Mohammed Kassim received a 100 per cent endorsement from assembly members of the Gomoa West District Assembly in the Central Region to become the new District Chief Executive (DCE). The confirmation ceremony, which took place at the district capital, Apam, last Friday, turned out to be more than just a formal electoral process—it became a symbol of collective will, political collaboration, and community trust.
Kassim, a well-known figure within the political landscape of the region, formerly served two terms as the constituency chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Gomoa West. His overwhelming confirmation by the assembly members signified more than political support—it was an emotional vote of confidence from stakeholders who believe in his leadership and vision. The event drew a wide range of high-profile attendees, each representing different sectors of governance, tradition, and community life.
Among those present were the Council of State Representative for the Central Region, Hakeem Addae; Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin; Deputy Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan-Mensah; and the Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI. Others in attendance included leaders from the legal fraternity, such as Adu Yeboah, the Central Regional Ghana Bar Association President; former DCE Theophilus Adu-Mensah; and constituency chairmen of the NDC. The event was also graced by the DCE for Ekumfi, Ishmael Nana Asamoah, the Deputy CEO of the Volta River Authority, Kwesi Fletcher, and several other political and community leaders.
The newly confirmed DCE expressed sincere gratitude during his acceptance speech, noting that the unanimous decision was both humbling and inspiring. He emphasised the importance of unity and the need to bring all stakeholders on board to chart a new path for development in the district. His tone was hopeful and inclusive, promising that consultations with key community players would begin immediately. Kassim pointed out that real progress only happens when everyone has a seat at the table, and that will be the spirit of his administration.
Central Regional Minister Ekow Panyin described the confirmation as a powerful statement of unity and trust. He acknowledged that the full support Kassim received also comes with great expectations. The people of Gomoa West, he noted, are looking forward to real change, development, and above all, inclusive leadership. He reminded Kassim that unity is key to achieving the transformation everyone desires.
As the district looks ahead to a new chapter under Kassim’s leadership, the energy in the air is hopeful. There’s a shared belief that with the right leadership, Gomoa West can achieve more, bring people together, and set a shining example of collaborative governance. The people have spoken with one voice, and now they wait to see the impact of that decision reflected in growth, harmony, and real community-driven change.
