The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially received the long-awaited report from the 11-member committee that was tasked with investigating the party's defeat in the 2024 general elections. This significant step was announced by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, during a meeting with journalists following the National Executive Council (NEC) session in Accra. The committee, led by Rev. Prof. Mike Oquaye, has spent several weeks consulting with stakeholders and gathering insights into the reasons behind the NPP's loss.

The report was submitted to Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the National Chairman of the NPP and current NEC Chairman, for further review. Kodua revealed that the NEC had established a nine-member committee to scrutinise the report, with a particular focus on any suggestions or changes that might be necessary to amend the NPP's constitution. This careful review process is essential before the details of the report are made public to the party’s members and supporters.

Kodua also made an important plea to the party's supporters, urging them to refrain from spreading misinformation about the contents of the report. He cautioned against making assumptions or engaging in accusatory behaviour on social media, emphasising that the official details would be communicated to the public in due course. The General Secretary reminded the party faithful that there is only one official report, which has been submitted to the National Council, and all future statements would come directly from the leadership of the party.

As part of its efforts to show appreciation for the unwavering support received from its members, the NPP also announced plans for a "thank you tour." This tour will visit various regions across the country, during which the party will express gratitude to God and acknowledge the commitment of its supporters. In line with this, there will be both Christian and Muslim Thanksgiving services to honour the collective efforts of the party’s members during the election campaign.

The formation of the investigative committee was a critical move by the NPP following its loss in the 2024 elections. The committee was given the responsibility of analysing the factors that contributed to the defeat and of recommending strategies for rebuilding the party. In addition to gathering feedback from party members and grassroots supporters, the committee also consulted with political analysts to ensure a thorough and objective review.

Moving forward, the NPP remains focused on restructuring and preparing for future elections. By examining its shortcomings, reviewing its constitution, and taking proactive steps to strengthen the party, the NPP aims to better position itself for the political challenges ahead. The process of reflection and renewal is a crucial part of ensuring the NPP's resilience and success in the coming years.
