Keira Walsh, a former midfielder for Barcelona, talks to Pete Sharland about the match before Chelsea's Champions League semi-final matchup with Barcelona. Walsh discusses how excited she is to face her old team, why she believes Chelsea are built to go through, and the rise of young star Aggie Beever-Jones

Before returning to England in January to join Chelsea, Walsh won Liga F and the Champions League consecutively. She is currently back in Spain, this time in blue, to play Barca live on TNT Sports and discovery+ in the United Kingdom. Walsh tells TNT Sports prior to the game, "I'm excited to obviously see my ex-teammates." "I played with them for two and a half years, so I have some good friends on that team; however, it will be a good game, and these are the games you want to play in as a professional football player."

Walsh admits that when she made the switch in January, she was aware that there was always a possibility of this happening, but she didn't think much about it. She has communicated with former teammates like Jana Fernandez, but all she has done is set up a coffee date with them to catch up after her frantic move in January. to include later "Obviously, we've talked about how we want to play, but I think that's part of what makes this Chelsea team so appealing: they can win with any style of football, and we can win with any style of play. Last time, Chelsea appeared to have the ability to complete the task. The score was 1-0 to the Blues. This year, at least, things will look a little different. On the field as well as in the dugout, both teams have undergone personnel changes. Indeed, Lucy Bronze and Keira Walsh will wear Chelsea blue this time around, having previously played for the Blaugrana.

However, will any of these adjustments enable the English champions to ultimately defeat Barca in two legs? Or do the winners of the previous two Champions League finals stand to win a fifth in a row? The 31-year-old has had some bad luck with injuries in recent years. In 2022, on the eve of the European Championship, she suffered an ACL tear after finishing a remarkable season that would win her her first Ballon d'Or. It was understandable that it took her some time to get back to the incredible level she was at prior to that setback, and a few minor fitness obstacles didn't help.
