Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Reaffirms Commitment to North Tongu Development
The Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the dynamic Member of Parliament for North Tongu and a key figure in Ghana's foreign affairs leadership, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency. Speaking during the annual Easter fundraising durbar at Volo Tugbedzo and Podoe, the MP laid out an ambitious and far-reaching development agenda aimed at transforming North Tongu through strategic infrastructure, education, and telecommunications projects.
One of the most critical issues addressed by Hon. Ablakwa was the long-standing state of disrepair of the Juapong–Podoe–Abutia–Ho road. In what he described as his "signature project" for the remainder of his fourth term in office, the MP passionately declared that this key transport route would be given a complete facelift. According to him, he has already initiated discussions with the President and the Minister for Roads and Highways, who have assured him of the government’s full support and commitment to the road's rehabilitation. He further disclosed that preparatory work is underway and that actual construction is set to commence soon.
"This road is not just a link between communities; it is the lifeline of economic activity, social interaction, and development in the region," Hon. Ablakwa stated. "I am determined to ensure that before the end of my fourth term, the people of Juapong, Podoe, Abutia, and Ho will witness a modern and accessible road network."
The MP’s dedication to education was also a prominent highlight of his address. In a heartwarming and impactful gesture, he announced instant scholarship support for 100 brilliant but needy students from the Podoe and Volo communities. This support, he emphasized, is part of a broader plan to empower the youth through education and reduce the financial barriers that hinder many students from achieving their academic dreams.
In addition to these scholarships, Hon. Ablakwa revealed ongoing efforts to establish a tertiary institution within the North Tongu Constituency. He stressed that education remains a cornerstone of national development and assured his constituents that the government is fully aligned with this vision. The planned tertiary institution, once realized, will not only bring higher education closer to home for many students but also spur economic and infrastructural growth in the region.
On the issue of telecommunications, Hon. Ablakwa did not mince words in addressing the frustrating mobile network challenges faced by some communities in North Tongu. He expressed deep concern about the negative impact poor connectivity has on education, business, health, and general communication. To address this, the MP announced that he had successfully lobbied for the provision of twenty (20) telecommunications panels to be installed across the most affected areas.
“This is about inclusion and ensuring that no community is left behind in the digital age,” he said. “In the coming days, residents will begin to see the erection of these telecom panels, which will significantly improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life in our communities.”
Hon. Ablakwa also took time to commend the newly appointed District Chief Executive (DCE), describing her as a visionary leader with the capacity to drive real change. He called on all constituents to support her in the discharge of her duties, emphasizing that unity and cooperation are essential for the realization of development goals.
“Let us rally behind our new DCE and offer her our unflinching support. Together, we can achieve more for North Tongu,” he appealed.
The lawmaker further expressed his optimism for the future, particularly under what he described as the anticipated second term of former President John Dramani Mahama. He assured constituents that under President Mahama’s renewed leadership, North Tongu would receive its fair share of national development projects.
“The NDC’s return to power will mark a new dawn for North Tongu. We are ready, we are prepared, and we will not be left out,” he concluded, to the loud cheers of the assembled crowd.
The annual Volo Tugbedzo and Podoe Easter fundraising durbar served as an ideal platform for the MP to not only give an account of his stewardship but also to renew his covenant with the people of North Tongu. His speech was received with enthusiasm and appreciation, reflecting the deep trust and support he enjoys among his constituents.
With his continued efforts and bold plans, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa stands as a beacon of hope and a symbol of dedicated leadership. North Tongu appears poised for significant transformation in the years ahead.
