It looked like Nottingham Forest may have suffered a downturn in form at just the wrong time, as they came into this clash on the back of consecutive Premier League defeats at the hands of Aston Villa and Everton respectively.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo's team put on a fantastic away performance that exemplifies their incredible season. Spurs were on the verge of collapse after Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson scored within the first 16 minutes, and Ange Postecoglou's team struggled throughout the majority of the match to no avail. They eventually made a breakthrough thanks to Richarlison, but the north Londoners would not make a big comeback. In a 38-game season, Spurs lost their eighth home Premier League game, their highest total ever. After 16 months, we are finally back in N17, where Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson scored in the first 17 minutes to secure a victory and move into third place in the Premier League. Their fans filed into London’s damp streets singing of the Champions League and they will return to the capital for an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City on Sunday.

After two defeats and increasing pressure, Forest's nerves were tested in this matchup against Spurs, who assisted them with a sloppy opening. Pedro Porro headed Anthony Elanga's set piece wide, but Anderson shot it back at goal for the first time. Vicario was beaten by a deflection from Rodrigo Bentancur, who hit him with a lovely shot that sent the ball into the turf and over the goalkeeper's dive. In the tenth minute, Forest once more had the ball in the net. From six yards out, Wood turned in an Anderson pass, but it was disallowed due to offside. It was congested. He broke the offside plane with only a shoulder and an arm, according to VAR images. Nonetheless, Wood was able to celebrate his 19th goal of the season in the Premier League within a short period of time. This time a header from a cross by Elanga from the Forest left.

Vicario came flying from his line, arms extended, fists together to punch but Wood simply got ahead of him and the ball flashed into an open net.

After winning at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and securing a spot in the Europa League's last four thanks to a strong defensive performance, Tottenham fell to two goals down after 17 minutes.
