In the peaceful coastal town of Dzita, something significant happened, something that went beyond the usual festive celebrations. During this year’s Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival, the community witnessed a major milestone: the appointment of Ms. Sandra Seyram Kpedor as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga. This isn’t just another political announcement. Ms. Kpedor is the first person from Dzita to hold this position since Ghana returned to democratic governance in 1992.

She stepped onto the stage with confidence and purpose, thanking former President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity. She credited him for recognising the strength and potential of the Dzita people. Her words carried emotion and conviction. “This is not just an appointment for me; it is a breakthrough for our entire community,” she said, receiving loud cheers from the crowd.

But her message wasn’t just about gratitude; it was about change. Ms. Kpedor outlined her vision to “reset Anloga” in line with the development plans of former President Mahama. She emphasised that her leadership would be built on collaboration, openness, and putting people first. She promised to listen to everyone and to involve the entire community in building a better district.

Ms. Kpedor made it clear that she’s calling on all parts of the community, traditional leaders, young people, women, traders, and fisherfolk, to join her in creating lasting progress.

Her appointment comes at a time when people are becoming increasingly vocal about the need for development in Anloga. Many are demanding action on urgent issues like poor roads, coastal erosion, youth unemployment, limited healthcare and education facilities, and the restoration of river transport between Anyanui and Ada.

Expectations for her leadership are high. And while her appointment brings hope, the community is looking for results. Many stakeholders who spoke at the festival stressed the importance of working closely with traditional authorities and government agencies to address the district’s challenges quickly.

Despite the long list of issues to address, there is a strong sense of optimism. For many in Dzita and Anloga, Ms. Kpedor’s leadership represents a real chance for change. Her connection to the people and her clear commitment to action have given residents new energy and belief in the future.

This year, the Dzita Easter Homecoming Festival turned out to be more than just a cultural gathering. It became a powerful moment of unity, a call for development, and a sign that real progress may finally be within reach.

As the district looks ahead, all eyes will be on Ms. Kpedor. The community is hopeful, but they’ll also be watching closely to see what comes next.
