Liverpool have emerged as frontrunners to sign Bournemouth’s promising left-back Milos Kerkez, with the Reds looking to secure a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. The 20-year-old Hungarian has caught the attention of top European clubs including Manchester City and Real Madrid, but Liverpool's proactive approach under Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes appears to give them the upper hand.

Kerkez has been one of the standout performers for Bournemouth since arriving from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. The left-back has shown maturity beyond his years with an aggressive attacking style and strong defensive awareness. His 2024/25 Premier League campaign has included two goals and six assists, while statistically leading the league in overlapping runs—a testament to his relentless work rate and offensive threat.

Bournemouth have reportedly slapped a £45 million price tag on the youngster, recognizing both his on-field impact and his growing potential. The Cherries rejected interest in January, but Liverpool’s renewed push—coupled with Kerkez's aspirations—could see a deal materialize this summer.

A significant factor in Liverpool’s pursuit is the role of Richard Hughes, who originally brought Kerkez to Bournemouth and now plays a central role in transfer strategy at Anfield. His familiarity with the player and his development could be pivotal in convincing both clubs and player. Additionally, Kerkez's close relationship with fellow Hungarian and current Liverpool Attacking midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai could further influence his decision.

With Andy Robertson approaching the twilight of his career and Kostas Tsimikas struggling to cement a starting role, the Reds are eager to reinforce the left-back position. Slot, known for his dynamic tactical approach back at Feyenoord, is expected to emphasize width and overlapping full-backs—qualities Kerkez naturally brings to the table.

While Manchester City and Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation, Liverpool appear to be acting with greater urgency and favorites. The Anfield club is gearing up for a transformative summer, and Milos Kerkez could be one of the key additions as they aim to build a squad capable of challenging across all competitions under new leadership.

If Liverpool can finalize a deal in the coming weeks, it would not only signal their intent to invest in young, elite talent but also address a crucial area of the pitch for years to come.
