More than 900 residents of Timiabu, Madina and Konkrompe, rural communities nestled in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East Region, have gained access to potable and clean water after years of relying on nearby streams for their water needs.

Over the years there has been water shortage in Timiabu and other surrounding communities. This water problem is making the settler farming community in Nkoranza District to struggle with their lives and economic activities. Water is essential and it makes life more comfortable for people but the people of Timiabu are finding it difficult to have access to good portable and drinking water.

An elder of the community explained that in Nkoranza the only source of water is the stream and it gets dried up as a result of the long dry season. The people have been compelled to walk a distance for about three kilometers to a nearby community to fetch water from the river Breme.

This has affected activities of the young people in the community especially the school going age who are to report to school very early in the morning and on time but due to the challenges of getting water they are not able go to school early. Most of the children report to school late and it has affected their academic work and performance. This pushed the elders in the community to make an appeal to the District Assembly to help address the problem to promote the health and education of the people.

The DCE heard the cry of the people of Timiabu, Madina, Konkrompe and it's surrounding communities and decided to offer them a helping hand to ensure they have access to good portable water drinking water.

The communities, equipped with a capacity water system, courtesy of Nkoranza North District Chief Executive (DCE), Effah Patrick (Hon. Patoo), was a result of his efforts to enhance the quality of life for the rural dwellers.

Effah Patrick, who promised to assist the district with developmental projects, fulfilled his promise by furnishing the three communities with potable water shortly after his confirmation and assumption of office in the Nkoranza North as DCE.

On Wednesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 24, 2025, the construction of the water system began, making the beginning of a new era of access to clean water for the communities.

In an interview with Apiah-Kubi, Fabea FM's "Me Man Ho Dadwen" show host, Hon. Patrick outlined the significance of water, saying "water is life" and emphasizing its importance for families and children.

He highlighted the relief the water system will bring and its potential to avert a water crisis in the areas.

The community members expressed appreciation for the DCE's support, acknowledging the project's impact on their socio-economic well-being.

They appealed for continued support to ensure the project's completion.

The people of Timiabu, Madina and Konkrompe expressed gratefulness for the DCE's unwavering support in enhancing their quality of life through improved access to clean water.
