Given the principle that "crime has no expiry date"; and the fundamental accountability of public officials to the people they serve, then it is important that the Electoral Commission Chair Madam Jean Mensah be held accountable for the 2020 election results. A court confrontation with Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata would provide a platform for her to provide explanations to the citizens of Ghana regarding the inconsistencies and concerns raised about the election outcome.

The Supreme Court's ruling in the 2020 presidential election petition has raised many questions about accountability and transparency in Ghana's democratic process. As a public servant, the Electoral Commission Chair, Madam Jean Mensah, should be accountable to the people. However, the court's decision prevented her from testifying in the election petition case.

This ruling has been criticized by many, including former Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Kwaku Gyan. He believes that the judiciary plays a critical role in ensuring good governance and democracy. By preventing Madam Jean Mensah from testifying, the Supreme Court has undermined this role.

The court's decision was based on a narrow interpretation of the rules. According to the court, a witness statement is not evidence until the witness testifies. However, this ruling has been criticized for shielding the Electoral Commission Chair from accountability.

The concept of "crime has no expiry date" suggests that individuals should be held accountable for their actions, regardless of the passage of time. In this case, the NDC and Lawyer Tsikata should revisit the 2020 election petition case and compel Madam Jean Mensah to testify.

The people of Ghana deserve to know why the 2020 election results were inconsistent and why there were about six different results declared. Madam Jean Mensah's testimony would provide clarity on these issues and ensure accountability.

The Supreme Court's ruling may be final, but it's not necessarily the end of the matter. New evidences or procedural errors could lead to a review of the decision. The NDC and Lawyer Tsikata should explore these options to ensure justice is served.

By compelling Madam Jean Mensah to testify, the NDC and Lawyer Tsikata would be holding her accountable for her actions as Electoral Commission Chair. This would strengthen Ghana's democracy and ensure that public servants are answerable to the people.

The pursuit of accountability and transparency is essential to Ghana's democracy. The NDC and Lawyer Tsikata's efforts to compel Madam Jean Mensah to testify would be a significant step towards ensuring that democratic principles are upheld.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court's ruling may have been final, but it's not too late to revisit the case and ensure accountability. The NDC and Lawyer Tsikata should take action to compel Madam Jean Mensah to testify and provide clarity on the 2020 election results.
