Nicolas Jackson ended his goal drought in spectacular fashion, firing Chelsea to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge. The Senegalese striker’s powerful 20-yard strike—his first Premier League goal from outside the box—proved decisive, keeping the Blues in the hunt for a top-four finish.

The win moves Chelsea one point clear of Newcastle in sixth, though the Magpies have a chance to reclaim their position when they face Ipswich later in the day. While the three points were vital, Mauricio Pochettino’s side endured nervy moments, relying on goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to preserve their slender lead with two crucial second-half saves.

Everton, largely subdued in the first half, threatened late. Jack Harrison dispossessed Levi Colwill to set up Beto, only for Sanchez to deny him with a sharp stop. The Spanish shot-stopper then pulled off an acrobatic save to keep out Dwight McNeil’s volley in the dying minutes, ensuring Chelsea held on.

Noni Madueke was Chelsea’s brightest attacking spark, testing Jordan Pickford three times, including a dazzling solo run that forced the England keeper into a full-stretch save. Yet, the lack of a second goal kept tension high among the home supporters, who have grown accustomed to late drama this season.

Maresca Backs Struggling Stars

Assistant coach Enzo Maresca praised Jackson’s resilience, emphasizing the club’s faith in players who have faced criticism. "We’ve always supported Nico, just as we have Cole Palmer and Robert Sanchez," he said. "When players go through tough patches, that’s when they need us most."

He also hailed the potential of Romeo Lavia, calling the injured midfielder *"one of the best when fit."* *"He defends brilliantly, progresses play, and reads the game superbly,"* Maresca added. *"We’re managing his fitness carefully, but his quality is undeniable."

Moyes Rues Missed Chances

Everton boss David Moyes admitted his side struggled early but credited his substitutes for sparking a late resurgence. "We didn’t start well, but the changes helped," he said. *"Their keeper made outstanding saves—on another day, we take those chances."

He also offered measured praise for young defenders Jake O’Brien and Nathan Patterson, acknowledging the challenge of facing Chelsea’s attack. "They grew into the game, which is encouraging," Moyes noted.

With tricky fixtures against Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United, and Nottingham Forest looming, Chelsea’s top-four ambitions remain firmly alive. For now, the Blues can breathe easier—thanks to Jackson’s long-awaited moment of magic.
