An aide to Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has confirmed that the governor will not be joining any political coalition ahead of the upcoming political movements and realignments in the country. The statement came in response to widespread speculation that Governor Buni might be aligning himself with other regional or national coalitions ahead of future elections.

The aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, clarified that Governor Buni remains focused on the development of Yobe State and has no immediate plans to enter into any political alliances outside of his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that the governor’s current priority is addressing the needs of the people of Yobe and continuing the projects initiated under his administration.

“Governor Buni’s stance is clear: his focus remains on the progress and welfare of Yobe State. He is not considering any coalition at this moment,” the aide stated, further dismissing rumors about the governor’s involvement in any new political arrangements. “His only alliance at this time is with the APC, and he is committed to ensuring the party’s success and the continuation of the developmental programs for the state.”

The statement has put an end to growing speculation that Governor Buni might be lured into a coalition with other governors or political figures looking to build a stronger national presence. Some political analysts had suggested that such a coalition could enhance the chances of influence in the 2027 elections, but the Yobe governor’s aide made it clear that such a move is not on the horizon.

Governor Buni has been an influential figure within the APC, having served as the Chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, which played a significant role in the party’s internal restructuring. Despite the many alliances being formed across the country, his focus remains on his gubernatorial responsibilities.

Yobe State, under Buni’s leadership, has witnessed significant strides in infrastructure development and the improvement of social services. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it is clear that the governor intends to keep his priorities local, resisting calls to shift focus to national-level political maneuvers.

With political maneuvering intensifying ahead of the 2027 general elections, all eyes remain on key figures like Buni to see how their positions evolve in the coming months.
