THE DAY YOU WERE BORN

In generations pass, our forefathers lived very long lives; often in good health, until they reached old age before giving up the ghost. In today's digital age, where intelligence and innovation are really celebrated, we're witnessing a disturbing trend.

Our community walls; and the news are filled with obituaries of young people who've left us far too soon, often in their teens, twenties, or thirties. The people who are to take care of their parents and grandparents till they give up the ghost, are rather being buried by the older ones. The outpouring of shock and grief on social media is palpable, with phrases like "gone too soon" and "what a shock" becoming all too familiar.

So what's really behind this trend? Is it merely a matter of circumstance, or is there something more sinister behind the scene? In many African traditions, there's a deep-seated belief that disclosing one's date of birth, particularly the day of birth (Kofi, Ama, Yow etc),, can have profound spiritual implications. Just by sharing this information, individuals may be opening themselves up to spiritual attacks, making them susceptible to malevolent entities that seek to manipulate or harm them.

The risks are multifaceted. Some believe that knowing someone's birthdate can allow others to influence or manipulate their destiny, potentially leading to a life of struggle, poverty, or even premature death. Others believe that birthdates are used in occult practices, where they're exploited for various purposes, including curses or spells. In this context, it's not hard to see how the widespread sharing of birthdates on social media could be detrimental to one's spiritual well-being.

Furthermore, in many African cultures, keeping one's birthdate private is seen as a way to maintain ancestral protection and blessings. By guarding this information, individuals can ensure that they're shielded from harm and that their ancestors continue to watch over them. In an age where personal information is readily available online, it's worth considering the potential consequences of sharing our most intimate details with the world.

Even among those who claim to follow religions like Christianity, it's clear that many are not deeply rooted in their beliefs and faith. A little spiritual trial or test comes their way, and they're often unable to withstand it. It's as if they're standing on shaky ground, vulnerable to the slightest gust of wind. When faced with spiritual challenges, they crumble, and before we know it, they're gone. This lack of spiritual depth and resilience may be a contributing factor to the shortened lifespans we're witnessing today.

As we ponder over the reasons behind the ongoing trend of shortened life span among the Gen Zs, it's essential to examine the potential spiritual roots of this problem. By understanding the traditional beliefs surrounding birthdates and spiritual vulnerability, we may uncover a crucial piece of the puzzle. Perhaps it's time to rethink our approach to sharing personal information online and to take steps to protect our spiritual well-being. Only then can we hope to reverse this disturbing trend and ensure that our young people live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
