Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has firmly dismissed ongoing rumors suggesting he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his unwavering loyalty to the party. Speaking during a meeting with party stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the governor stated that no amount of speculation would sway his commitment to the APC.

Idris emphasized that he has no intention of defecting to any other political party, asserting that he remains dedicated to the party’s ideals and future. “I want to make it categorically clear that I am fully committed to the APC. I will be the last man standing if it comes to that,” he said.

Rumors of his potential defection had been circulating on social media and among political observers, especially following political realignments in other parts of the country. However, Governor Idris dismissed these reports as baseless and the work of political mischief makers attempting to create unnecessary tension.

According to him, his administration remains focused on delivering on the promises made to the people of Kebbi State during the last election. He urged party members and the public to ignore the false narratives, assuring them that he would continue to work for the progress of the state under the platform of the APC.

“The people of Kebbi gave us their mandate under the APC, and it is under the APC that we shall continue to serve them with loyalty and dedication,” Idris added.

He also called on party members to remain united and avoid being distracted by rumors and divisive tactics, emphasizing that internal unity was key to maintaining the party’s dominance in the state and nationally.

Party stakeholders at the meeting applauded the governor’s stance, pledging their support for his leadership and his development agenda. They praised his transparency and the rapid projects initiated since the beginning of his administration.

As the political landscape continues to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Idris’s declaration is seen as a strong message of stability for the APC, particularly in Kebbi State, where the party enjoys significant grassroots support.
