The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that intending pilgrims from the state will commence their journey to Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj exercise on May 12.
According to a statement released by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji AbdulSalam Abdulkadir, all arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and hitch free airlift of the pilgrims. He urged all those who have completed their payments and documentation to be fully prepared for the journey, noting that the first batch would depart on the scheduled date.
Alhaji Abdulkadir emphasized the need for pilgrims to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided by the Board and the Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure a successful pilgrimage. He also advised them to attend all remaining orientation programs, which are designed to educate and prepare them for the spiritual exercise and the rules governing the holy sites.
"The Board has worked closely with relevant authorities to make sure the airlifting process is seamless. We urge our pilgrims to cooperate with officials and abide by all instructions to avoid any inconveniences," he stated.
The Kwara State government, through the Pilgrims Welfare Board, has also assured that adequate measures have been put in place for the welfare, accommodation, and medical needs of the pilgrims both in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. The state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reportedly expressed his support and commitment to ensuring that pilgrims from Kwara have a memorable and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience.
Meanwhile, the Board reiterated that all pilgrims must arrive early at the designated assembly points and ensure that their travel documents, vaccination certificates, and personal belongings are properly arranged before departure.
This year’s Hajj marks a significant event as thousands of Muslims across the world prepare to gather in Mecca for one of the five pillars of Islam. For many pilgrims from Kwara, this journey is not just a religious obligation but a once in a lifetime spiritual experience.
As the departure date draws near, the atmosphere among the intending pilgrims is filled with excitement, prayers, and a deep sense of devotion.
