Arsenal lost 1-0 to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Emirates, and honestly, it was a frustrating night for Gunners fans. The game got off to a rough start with Ousmane Dembélé scoring for PSG in just the fourth minute. He finished off a really slick team move after some nice work from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Arsenal were caught sleeping early, and that goal ended up being the difference at full time.
For most of the first half, PSG looked more confident and controlled the game. Arsenal just couldn’t get into their flow, and the crowd felt a bit flat too. Things did improve in the second half though. Arsenal pushed more, and there was a moment when it looked like they’d finally equalized. Mikel Merino scored a header, but unfortunately, VAR ruled it out for offside. That one hurt.
Even though Arsenal started to create more chances later on, PSG’s keeper Donnarumma was solid. He made some good saves to keep them ahead. PSG could’ve scored more too—Barcola and Ramos both had clear chances but didn’t finish them off.
Now it all comes down to the second leg next Wednesday in Paris. A 1-0 loss isn’t the end of the world, but Arsenal will need to come out stronger from the start if they want to turn it around. It’s still very much possible, especially with the talent in the squad.
PSG will definitely be feeling confident going back home with the lead, but this tie is far from over. Let’s see what Arteta and the boys can do next week. It’s going to be a big night in Paris.
