Another UEFA Champions League night, and this time, it was the semi-final first leg between two of the strongest teams—Barcelona and Inter Milan.
For me, it felt like a battle between Barcelona’s relentless attack and Inter’s solid defense. Barcelona dominated possession with 78% and registered 19 total shots, while Inter had only 22% possession and managed just 7 shots, according to Sofascore.
Coming into this match, Inter had a rough patch domestically. They lost two Serie A games against Bologna and Roma, allowing Napoli to take a 3-point lead at the top of the table. To make matters worse, they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia after a humiliating 3-0 loss to AC Milan.
Anyway, Inter shocked everyone by opening the scoring in just the 1st minute—barely had the game even started! Then in the 21st minute, they doubled their lead, going up 2-0. But I have two words for you: Lamine Yamal.
The 17-year-old wonderkid pulled one back for Barcelona in the 24th minute. Honestly, I admire this guy—he walks the talk. He’s talented, and he knows it. At just 17, while I was still hustling for university admission, this guy is showing his talent on one of the world's biggest stage. Anyways, it is well.
Ferran Torres then added another for Barcelona in the 38th minute, leveling the score at 2-2 before halftime.
In the second half, Inter took the lead once again through Denzel Dumfries, who completed his brace in the 63rd minute. But just two minutes later, Barcelona responded. A corner conceded by Dumfries led to Raphinha’s shot, which deflected off Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer and went in—ruled as an own goal.
Despite numerous chances—especially from Barcelona—neither side could find the winner, and the match ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw. One interesting stat? Barcelona goalkeeper Szczęsny finished the match with zero saves, while Sommer had nine.
Both teams will head into the second leg level on aggregate. All I can say is—this match was absolute cinema. UCL nights like this are why we love football. Beautiful, unpredictable, and full of drama.
