Who will be the next Catholic Pope? Is the Catholic Papacy dominated by a single race? Is there a hope for a real black African Pope? Here are five books that uncover the hidden answers!

Pope Victor 1 is to be remembered for two grand changes in the Catholic Church. He encouraged the adoption of the Latin language from the dominating Greek in Rome. He was the 14th pope of the Catholic Church. Not only that, but he served the church from an estimated 189-198 A.D. He will always be remembered for branding Sunday as the day for Easter celebration. He was also the first known Catholic pope to be raised in Africa. The 32nd Pope Miltiades was also recorded as having been born in Africa. He served the church from 311-314 A.D. Pope Miltiades was the first to live officially in Rome, precisely at the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Then arrived the 49th Catholic Pope, Pope Gelasius 1. History says that he was a Roman citizen of African origin. The Gelasian Sacramentary was named after him, while he is notably remembered for persuading the rich to care for the poor in Vatican City. Author John W. O’Malley chronicles the saints and sinners who have led the Roman Catholic Church over the past 2000 years in his book: “A history of the Popes”. While Author John Farrow gives a detailed history of each Pope in his own book: “The history of the Popes”.

The Conclave, the process of choosing a Catholic Pope! Author Thomas Morelli tells of the 123 cardinals awaiting one decision and a name in the Conclave of 2025. In the book "Conclave 2025” the names of the men waiting to be selected for the most powerful spiritual position in the world are presented. The processes involved in each Conclave event are well discussed, while the ceremonies that precede the funeral of the Pope are well presented. Do you know that a conclave may last 10 years if there is discord in the Canonical election?

Author Donald O. Bright in his book, “Who are the Leading Cardinals to Succeed Pope Francis” highlighted the global south as still needing patronage after the many years of marginalization. The book speaks of the global south as championing the global unification of the church after Pope Francis. The prospective cardinals elect is discussed, their leadership qualities are delicately examined, from Asia’s Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle to Africa’s rising voices.

Janet C. Morgan analyses the prospective cardinals and discusses the influential accomplishments of the demised Pope Francis. While predicting who will be the next Catholic Pope, the book seems to express the thoughts of every Catholic: How will the next Pope reform the church? Are the old roots going to be adopted by the next Pope in-line?
