A concerned mother, Fijabi Omotayo, has cried out over the sudden disappearance of her son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student at Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. In a heartfelt Facebook live video, Omotayo explained that she personally dropped her son off at the university on Sunday, April 27, 2025, but has been unable to contact or locate him since that day.
Clearly distressed, she appealed to the public and security agencies for help in locating her son. According to her, a visit to the school provided no clear answers, as university staff suggested that students sometimes go into hiding on campus. “I dropped him off myself on Sunday evening, but for the past three days, I have not been able to sleep. I went to the school, and they told me that students sometimes hide within the premises. Babcock University should please help find my son,” she pleaded.
In an earlier social media post, she accused the university of not being forthcoming with information and mentioned two students, Lampard and Tobi, who were allegedly the last people seen with her son. She called on the university to be accountable and provide clarity on her son’s disappearance.
The situation caught the attention of Emmanuel Ojo, Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Dapo Abiodun. Ojo contacted the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who in turn reached out to Babcock University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo. The VC reportedly claimed he was unaware of the issue until it was brought to his attention, but has since received the student's details and pledged to investigate.
Security agencies are now involved, and efforts are underway to locate Oladipupo. The university’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the incident and said their internal security team is handling the investigation. The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed that the case was reported and investigations have commenced. He affirmed that the police are working with the university to find the missing student.
